Unity, or Individuality?

Since the time of the revolution, two political sides emerged: Those that were fighting to enforce state rights, and those that were arguing for more federal rights. After the revolution, the first form of government they used was the Articles of Confederation, The thirteen states formed a new government, a considerably loose confederation with a weak central government. When this lead to problems, the Constitutional Congress, in secret, formed the US Constitution.  Many people believed that the new Constitution was too biased, and betrayed individual state rights. Those people wanted the states to have their own right to accept, or decline, federal acts, this was a large contributor to the unrest among the populous.
