Kansas-Nebraska Act

The _Kansas-Nebraska Act_was the spark that ignited the flame. It was an act passed  directly opposing key anti-slavery acts that were in the works. How did it do this? It, within its complex phrases, basically defined Kansas and Nebraska as 'optional' to slavery, whether or not it was decided to ban slavery. This was the southerners 'Declaration
of Independence' so to speak. When the north had realized that the south had no intention of coming to a compromise they knew that they had to take action, rather than use a 'strongly worded letter.' The video on the bottom is a excellent source of information.
